Mere Pawns in a Game

To all you young soldiers – what can I say?
Your world and mine are so far away
Life here seems trivial compared to yours
Orders obeyed – you believe in your cause.

Heavy’s the burden that you men must take
Hard are the choices you have to make
All this because of the lies and deceit
Told by the bankers and powerful elite.

There must be a way to stop all this greed
When will we wake up? It’s peace that we need
The lives of young kids are being snuffed out -
Mere pawns in a game. What’s all this about?

Let’s stop all the killing, the bloodshed, the tears,
Let go of all anger, all guilt and all fears,
Let’s join in one consciousness, beyond compare
Let’s welcome the love we were all born to share?
